Packaging
Position: Packaging Technician
Hello there, I work as a Packaging Technician at Teva in Eastbourne.
That's my official job title, but lately I've been spending a lot of time training an
influx of new Packaging Technicians that have joined the company.
I love being a trainer because there's something different to do each day. At the moment I'm
guiding the technicians through the new shift system that Teva has adopted here. Technicians now
operate in groups and rotate around the entire packaging complex, so they need to
know how to run everything.
I've worked in factory-type environments since leaving school at the age of 17. Before joining
Teva six years ago I worked for a pharmaceuticals manufacturer and then a toiletries firm.
I enjoy working at Eastbourne because it's regarded as a centre of excellence. Teva has just
invested £20 million here to boost the site's capability and to double its packing capacity.
Areas are being created for 12 new blister lines, the goods-out warehouse is being converted into
a three-storey facility and a new double-loading dock is being created.
All that should create some exciting opportunities at Eastbourne. And that's what I like about
Teva, the opportunities are always there if you want to follow them up.
The training is good as well. I've done lots of training programmes over the years,
ranging from lifting to engineering.
And finally I think Teva is a good employer because if you make suggestions, the company listens to
what you have to say and will act on them if it's the right thing to do.
