Marketing
Position: Marketing Manager
I'm the Marketing Manager for Teva Generics based at Ridings Point in Castleford.
I've been with the company for just over three years and what I really love about my job is the
way everything moves at such a fast and exciting pace.
That's because the industry in which we work changes very quickly, so the company has to react
just as swiftly to keep up with it.
My career progression within Teva has been equally fast and exciting. I joined the company in
October 2006 as Brand Manager for our pharmacy customers. I then got promoted to Group Brand Manager in
February 2009 before being promoted again in late 2009 to the position I hold today.
My job now involves championing the customer and Teva, so that as an organisation we understand exactly
what we have to provide in the way of products and service. And I do that with the help of a marketing and
telesales team.
It's a great role because there’s no such thing as a typical day. One minute I could be out visiting a
customer and writing strategy plans, the next I could be working with one of my team and a design agency to
create new promotional campaigns.
And because I work at the 'front end' of the business, defining and championing what our customers really
need, I spend a lot of time communicating with colleagues in other areas of the business, such as sales,
pricing or finance.
In June 2008 I was lucky enough to co-ordinate a project with colleagues from our European operation
which helped give me an even better understanding of our wider organisation.
Teva is full of opportunities. My first promotion brought line manager responsibilities which was
challenging, but the company helped out by providing a coach and a mentor for me. The coach supported me
with getting to grips with my new responsibilities while the mentor gave me that extra perspective in terms
of business awareness.
Teva doesn't have a formal mentoring programme, but that didn't stop the company listening and
providing a mentor when I suggested it.
The lack of bureaucracy can be a real plus point for Teva because it means people can be creative and
do things fairly quickly.
Regardless of your position, you always feel empowered to come up with new ideas and to do things.
You're not put in a box, so to speak, with limitations.
As a company Teva has always looked after me. I think they have recognised that I can add value,
so when an opportunity has opened up, they have rewarded me with it.
