Hospital Sales
Position: Key Account Manager
Hello I'm a Key Account Manager in the Teva Hospitals team.
I work in a field sales role covering Scotland and Northern Ireland and my role is as huge and exciting as the geographical area I cover.
I've always been interested in key account management and was a sales rep for a number of smaller companies down south before joining Teva in June 2007.
I did a lot of research on Teva before I applied for this job. I contacted an employee to get their views on the organisation and
I even visited a local pharmacy to see what they thought of Teva and its products.
The employee said she loved working for Teva because it had a family feel and was almost like working
with your friends. The pharmacist knew all about Teva's products and thought they were great because the
packaging was well designed and a lot easier to read and understand compared to other products.
So before I even joined Teva I could see the company was going places and had a strong pipeline of
products. This was the company I had been looking for to make best use of my background, skills and
experience.
Now I'm working for Teva and I love every minute. It's my job to sell a certain range of products into
hospitals based within Scotland and Northern Ireland.
My target is to meet around six customers a day and by that I mean people such as hospital pharmacists,
specialist nurses and hospital consultants. Sometimes I will arrange a lunchtime presentation to talk to
a whole group of hospital staff about a particular Teva product.
It's a great job and it changes all the time because Teva is producing new products all the time.
As you can imagine I have to attend lots of training courses to get up to speed with these products before
I can talk with authority to the hospital teams.
I also travel a lot, which I like, so you've got to be organised to do this job, but I'm glad to say that
the environment is relaxed. You don't sell by a script, you're encouraged to use your own style and
personality which I think is very important.
But the best thing is definitely my team, and my manager, because everyone is so friendly and supportive.
It may seem like I work remotely, but I'm regularly in contact with people over the phone.
